Contract DUI Review Attorney (Missouri & Kansas)

Role Type: Independent Contractor (1099)

Location: Remote / Kansas City Metro preferred

Overview

Aimee the Attorney is seeking a contract attorney licensed in Missouri and Kansas to conduct in-depth review and analysis of DUI evidence for internal case evaluation purposes. This role involves detailed review of video and documentary evidence to support intake decisions and defense strategy.

This position is internal-only and does not involve publication, marketing, court appearances, or direct client representation unless separately agreed.

Responsibilities

  • Review DUI case evidence including police body cam, dash cam, station/booking video, and other video materials.
  • Review paper and documentary evidence, including reports, citations, discovery materials, and other records.
  • Review any and all other evidence relevant to case evaluation.
  • Analyze evidence for:
    • Probable cause and reasonable suspicion issues
    • Field sobriety test administration and deviations
    • Constitutional and procedural issues
    • Jurisdiction-specific DUI standards (Missouri & Kansas)
  • Prepare a standardized DUI Evidence Review Memorandum using a provided template (structured format required).
  • Identify suppression issues and strategic leverage points.
  • Categorize cases by strength and complexity.

Scope of Work

  • Estimated time per case: 4–8 hours
  • Work product used exclusively for internal case evaluation
  • No client communication unless expressly authorized

Requirements

  • Active law license in both Missouri and Kansas
  • Experience handling DUI / DWI cases
  • Proficiency in video-based evidentiary review
  • Working knowledge of field sobriety testing standards, DUI investigative procedures, and common suppression issues
  • Ability to produce clear, structured written legal analysis
  • Willingness to follow a standardized memo format

Training & Onboarding

  • Training will be provided on internal processes, expectations, and the standardized memo format.
  • The ideal candidate brings existing DUI knowledge and is open to aligning with firm-specific review practices.

Compensation

Hourly or per-case compensation, as agreed.
