Kansas City Is Getting the World’s First Barbecue Museum (Because of Course We Are)

There are certain things that just make sense—like the fact that the world’s first BBQ museum is opening in Kansas City.

On April 12, the Museum of BBQ will open its doors at Crown Center, offering a full-on sensory journey through the history, culture, and smoky joy of American barbecue. Visitors will walk through interactive rooms themed around Meat, Rub, Smoke, Wood & Fire, and Sauce, followed by a deep dive into regional barbecue traditions—including (naturally) KC’s own burnt-end-filled legacy.

You can toss a “smoke ring,” take a dip in the “bean pit,” pose with a mustard belt in the Carolinas room, and learn what sets KC-style apart. The museum also features artwork from local creatives and a gift shop filled with rubs, sauces, meat mops, and more.

This isn’t a law story, but it’s a Kansas City story through and through. A celebration of what we cook, what we share, and what makes this town deliciously one of a kind.

Tickets are $10. Open daily. More info here →
